(Almost) Wordless Weekend

Sneak peek at our bedroom colors                          Made laundry detergent last night

Cut mat as a floor plan. This room is a real puzzle. :/       Other roses may tire, but old Yeller is going strong!

Thanks for visiting! :)

  1. Have you tried your laundry detergent yet? I'd love the recipe if you're happy with how it works.

    1. Hi Jenifer!
The link is hidden in the caption of the photo. :)

I've found most homemade laundry detergent recipes to be very similar. I like this particular link because she has simplified the steps nicely and made it less complicated than some other sites.

I use the homemade for all our everyday clothes. It does a pretty good job. I agree with the blogger that it takes awhile to re-train your brain that "suds don't equal clean." I think whenever you avoid sulfates, you will have less suds, but that doesn't mean it's not working! I still use storebought soap for Joel's office work clothes. I don't know why, I just do. :0)

And I would also recommend using a little MORE WATER than she suggests. It was definitely THICKER than some other recipes I've tried. If you use more water, obviously you would RAISE the amount-used-per-load, it just makes it easier to pour out of your jug.

I only made a 3/4 recipe because that's how much my stock pot will hold. I have been using Fels Naptha as the bar soap, as I had some left over from other recipes. I think I will try using Dove next time, just out of curiosity.
