GIVEAWAY - Baby sock monkey

One of the most popular items in my shop is the sock monkey. I made over 100 sock monkeys last year alone! While the work can sometimes be tedious, I really enjoy the finished project and the feeling of nostalgia that it represents for a lot of people.  

That's because the sock monkey has been around for almost 80 years. Several people have told me that seeing a sock monkey reminds them of the ones their grandma used to have or their great grandma used to make. According to Wikipedia,"The iconic sock monkeys made from red-heeled socks emerged at the earliest in 1932... During the Great Depression, American mothers first made sock monkeys out of worn-out Rockford Red Heel Socks." Back then no one had money for new toys, or even new fabric with which to make them. So moms would make dolls or toys for their children out of salvaged materials they had around the house. The red-heeled work socks that Nelson Knitting Company made were popular with the men. And sometimes, after the socks had lost their usefulness as clothing, the mothers would make monkeys out of them! :)

The Nelson Knitting Company was acquired in 1992 by Fox River Mills, which still produces red-heeled socks to this day. And these are the very socks I use to make my traditional sock monkeys.
My baby sock monkey is an adorable spin on this beloved classic. He is made out of Fox River socks, too - in the Toddler Size! :)

GIVEAWAY: Pack of 7 Burp Cloths

It's been awhile since I gave away someping. Let's DO IT!

This week, I have chosen a selection of my burpies. They are brand new, in some patterns I've decided to discontinue. With each burpie, one side is flannel with a cool pattern and the other side is SUPER absorbent chenille.
5 are what I would consider a "girl" pattern and 2 are "boy or girl."
Pre-shrunk, machine washable, measures about 8" by 15"

GIVEAWAY - Ewan the woodland owl

It's that time again! Another GIVEAWAY!!!

This week, I have chosen Ewan the Owl as the prize. Ewan is extremely charming, although a little mischievous. He has a delightful accent and he's a great story-teller. ;) His body is 100% cotton. Lovie Giveaway!

This month, I'm happy to announce that I'm celebrating the First Anniversary of opening my Etsy shop! I can hardly believe it's been a whole year. It's such a dream-come-true to be able to craft for living... especially being able to work part-time at it while staying home with my baby. Reusable Grocery Bag / Tote

I am so excited to be releasing my new line of reusable grocery bags! This is something I've been wanting to do for quite awhile. I had such fun picking out the fabrics and designing them. I wanted to offer something eco-friendly in a style that anyone would be proud to carry to the grocery store or farmers market. These bags would even be great as an everyday tote or a book bag at the library! ;)

Each bag is totally reversible, with a patterned fabric on one side and a solid on the other. I've used a heavier weight, so it's durable, and the fact that it is two-layered really adds to its strength. It's also top-stitched around the edges to help keep the seams from wearing out. These are designed to last!
